Frank Moslander was born and raised in Northern California, earning BAs in English and Mass Communications from U.C. Berkeley. From college he spent a few years in the business world, but after some time as a corporate trainer, he realized that his true passion lay in education. He is now a 25+ year veteran of the classroom, first receiving his Teaching Credential in 1993. He began his career at Saratoga High School, where he was the district’s New Teacher of the Year.
He and his wife Mary relocated to the Washington, D.C. area in 1996 as part of the advancement of her career. There, he joined Norwood School, a progressive and highly rigorous co-ed independent K-8 institution bearing many similarities to Hamlin. Frank taught reading/English in Grades 3-8, math in Grades 1-7, and spent one year co-teaching in a Grade 5 homeroom in order to mentor a colleague who was transitioning from his role as an Assistant Teacher. In 2005 Frank moved into the administration in the position of Dean of Studies with responsibility for the oversight of the entire curriculum for all grades. In 2009, that role expanded to include supervision of thirteen teachers and the Athletic Department as well as the school’s professional development plan. During his time in administration, he continued to teach one class every year. In 2012 and 2013, he led a full revision and implementation of a teacher training program for the school’s entire math program, which has kept him deeply immersed in both today’s standards and best practices.
Since moving back to San Francisco a few years ago, Frank has been at home managing the family household and getting his daughters off to college. At Hamlin he ran operations for Winterfest for several years and taught Grade 6 & 7 math as a long-term substitute. Frank is tremendously excited to be teaching math again this year, and we are thrilled that his schedule allows him the opportunity to join the Hamlin team.
