Mary Mei is a managing director at Stanford Management Company, where she oversees investments across global markets on behalf of Stanford University’s endowment. The endowment supports the academic mission of the University, including funding student financial aid, backing a world-class faculty, and advancing pioneering research. Mary also teaches a seminar in investment management, introducing undergraduate students to the theory and practice of institutional investing.
Mary grew up in New York City and received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her MBA from Harvard University. She and her husband, Derrick, live in San Francisco with their daughter (Hamlin ’30) and son (Town ’32), where they love exploring the Bay Area.
