Craig Albers is excited to step into his new role as Hamlin’s Grade 8 Math Teacher; his third year as a full-time teacher. After nearly three decades in finance as an actuary, Wall Street bond trader, and more, he returned to his first passion: teaching. Craig holds a math degree from UC San Diego and an MBA from UCLA.
He first discovered his love for teaching as a Calculus TA at UC San Diego and it was rekindled in 2019 while leading an after-school workshop that helped his son’s class achieve a record AP pass rate.
Beyond math, Craig once worked as a surfboard shaper and co-founded San Diego Special Olympics Day at the Beach, an accomplishment he holds close to his heart. He looks forward to sharing his enthusiasm for mathematics and helping Hamlin students thrive.
These trustees—my peers, colleagues, and friends—joined the board in 2019. By the end of their first year, they were navigating the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and faced a pivotal decision: whether to move forward with our bold and transformative campus construction project amid profound global uncertainty.
