Rachel (she/her) graduated with a B.S. from Carleton College before beginning her career in outdoor education with NatureBridge, a local organization that connects young people to the wonder and science of the natural world. At Hamlin since 2002, Rachel taught science in Grades 5, 6, and 8 and has since moved into the field of Educational Technology. She started Hamlin’s composting program and is currently in charge of the Environmental Ambassadors Club. She has also worked closely with the Presidio Trust to build a citizen science program and to co-publish an e-book about Mountain Lake.
Rachel was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2017 and is the recipient of Hamlin’s Irene C. Abbe Faculty Award and the Presidio Trust’s Teachers Inspiring Teachers Award. She currently serves on the Board of NatureBridge Yosemite.
