Technology Integration
At Hamlin, students are immersed in a 1:1 iPad environment beginning in Kindergarten. iPads function as essential learning tools—much like pencils and paper—supporting skill practice, content creation, and exploration.
Students work individually, with partners, and in small groups to engage with educational apps, create multimedia content, and communicate their learning. iPads enable Hamlin teachers and students to:
- Promote student-centered learning, engagement, inquiry, and exploration
- Support differentiated instruction
- Expand assessment opportunities
- Strengthen critical thinking
- Develop digital citizenship and media fluency
- Encourage collaboration and group work
- Refine organizational skills
- Foster creativity through project-based learning

These trustees—my peers, colleagues, and friends—joined the board in 2019. By the end of their first year, they were navigating the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and faced a pivotal decision: whether to move forward with our bold and transformative campus construction project amid profound global uncertainty.
