Mariam is a Hamlin alumna from the Class of 1997. After graduating from Hamlin and then University High School, Mariam received the Morehead-Cain Scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and spent a semester at Sciences Po in Paris. Mariam earned her J.D. at UCLA School of Law, and completed internships at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Mariam is lead counsel at Airbnb, where her work is currently focused on providing legal and strategic guidance to Airbnb.org, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Airbnb to fund and facilitate free accommodations for people in times of crisis, including refugees, disaster evacuees, relief workers, and COVID-19 frontline workers. Mariam directly advises Airbnb.org’s Board of Directors and Airbnb leadership on a broad range of legal issues. Mariam began her legal career as a litigator at Latham & Watkins, before moving to in-house counsel roles at technology and media companies.
Mariam previously served on the Hamlin Alumni Board for seven years, including several years on the Executive Committee, co-leading the Alumni Annual Fund.
Mariam lives in Marin County with her husband and two young children. She loves travel, hiking, stand up paddle boarding, and heading north to wine country.
