Yvette was born in NYC and grew up in Fort Lee, NJ. She graduated from the State University of New York at Purchase with a BA in Literature and has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco. She was living in Hawaii when her oldest son was born, but has been in the Bay Area for over 30 years. She has been building communities since the 1990s when she worked as a conferencing coordinator at The WELL, an online discussion community. Yvette was a member of the founding staff of San Francisco Friends School and spent 19 years as their admissions director before joining the team at Hamlin. She is a former trustee of the Bay Area Directors of Admission, Bay Area People of Color in Independent Schools, Pacific Primary Preschool, and the Friends Council on Education. She currently serves on the boards of the Association of Independent School Professionals and The Waverly School.
Yvette lives in San Francisco with her husband Mark, and has two sons, Elijah and Liam. In her spare time she enjoys strength training and riding her Peloton, hiking trails in Marin and getting lost in a good book.
When I think about what has brought us to this moment, one feeling rises above all others: gratitude. Gratitude for the friendships formed, for the partnerships with Wanda, the leadership team, and my fellow trustees, and for the extraordinary faculty and staff who bring this school to life each day with intention, care, and heart, whether in the classroom, in the hallways, or in the quiet moments in between.
