Abigael recently moved to San Francisco from New York City to take on our new Director of Culinary Services role and she could not be happier with the change of scenery. Abigael has worked for 20 years as a farm focused, whole foods chef in restaurants in Seattle, the San Juan Islands, Nebraska, and New York City. Most recently, she could be found leading the kitchen at the Spence School in Manhattan.
Abigael is committed to serving kids delicious and healthy food that fuels their bodies with an emphasis on local and organic ingredients. She loves to use the daily school menu to help spark discussions about other cultures and support the diversity, equity, and inclusion work in the broader Hamlin community. Abigael is most looking forward to creating a space for curiosity, camaraderie, and comfort in the Hamlin lunch room.
When I think about what has brought us to this moment, one feeling rises above all others: gratitude. Gratitude for the friendships formed, for the partnerships with Wanda, the leadership team, and my fellow trustees, and for the extraordinary faculty and staff who bring this school to life each day with intention, care, and heart, whether in the classroom, in the hallways, or in the quiet moments in between.
