Jim began his career developing software for clients and making web pages, web ads, and Flash banner ads for software companies. He then transitioned into teaching. He taught in Asia for 3 years and in the Bay Area for 12 years before integrating his tech experience into his teaching career, teaching programming and digital arts. In 2016, he pivoted back into web development by completing a 19-week full-stack development course at Dev Bootcamp. Soon after, he began work as a teaching assistant at Actualize, a development bootcamp in Chicago. He then returned to K-8 education maintaining school websites, supporting student information systems, providing tech support, leading the tech team, and teaching programming. He is thrilled to be at Hamlin as the Director of Technology!
